About the Role

As Verkada continues to scale globally, we are building a world-class People Operations team to support our employees through every stage of their journey. We are looking for a Senior Leave of Absence Associate to own and elevate our global leave programs, ensuring employees receive a seamless and empathetic experience during some of their most important life moments.

In this role, you will be the SME for leave administration and accommodations while partnering closely with People Partners, Payroll, and Benefits. You will bring operational rigor to our leave processes by improving workflows, leveraging technology and automation, strengthening reporting and analytics, and building scalable programs that can support Verkada’s continued global growth.

We are committed to a thriving in-office culture. This role requires that you be on-site at our office in San Mateo, CA 5 days a week.

What You'll Do

Leave Administration & Case Management

Administer the full portfolio of leave programs globally: parental, medical, military, workers' compensation, unpaid/personal leave, and statutory leaves (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, ADA, and other state- or country-specific programs), in compliance with federal, state, local, and international requirements.

Own the full leave lifecycle from intake through return-to-work.

Develop and scale international leave processes, working with local People Partners, legal counsel, and vendors as Verkada expands into new markets.

Support workplace accommodations, partnering with People Partners, Legal, and managers on the interactive process and complex cases.

Serve as the primary liaison with disability carriers (STD/LTD), coordinating claims, escalations, and benefits continuation.

Guide employees through state benefit programs (e.g., SDI, PFL) and how they interact with company policies.

Deliver an outstanding, empathetic employee experience, responding promptly and accurately to leave questions and keeping employees, managers, and stakeholders informed throughout.

Leave Pay, Top-Up & Payroll Audits

Own company top-up/salary continuation calculations, including complex variable-comp scenarios (sales commissions, quota, draws) and offsets from state benefits and disability payments.

Perform pay audits each payroll cycle for employees on leave, partnering with Payroll.

Program Development, Analytics & Partnership

Standardize Verkada's leave processes with documented policies, workflows, and data governance, and scale international leave programs as we expand.

Partner with HRIS/People Tech to enhance Workday leave functionality; leverage AI and automation to streamline operations.

Build LOA reports and dashboards, analyze trends and anomalies, and translate data into clear recommendations for the People team leadership.

Act as the single point of contact on leave for Payroll, Benefits, Legal, People Partners, and Finance, driving complex cases to resolution.

What You Bring

5+ years in global leave administration, benefits operations, or HR operations with hands-on leave ownership; 8+ years strongly preferred.

Direct experience calculating leave top-ups for variable-compensation employees (commissions, quota, draws), which is central to this role.

Strong knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL, PFL, workers' comp, STD/LTD, and state benefit offsets; international/multi-jurisdiction leave exposure.

Proven pay audit accuracy and attention to detail; strong analytical skills and advanced Excel.

Independent, end-to-end ownership of multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment, with excellent judgment and discretion handling sensitive information.
