Senior Benefits Associate
Your Impact on our Mission
Zocdoc's most important asset is our people. As Senior Benefits Associate, you'll play a meaningful role in making sure that every Zocdoc employee can access, understand, and rely on the benefits they need — so they can show up and do their best work helping patients get the care they deserve. You'll own the day-to-day operations of our health, retirement, and leave programs with precision and genuine care, while continuously finding ways to make our benefits experience more seamless, equitable, and exceptional. This is a role where operational excellence meets real human impact.
You'll enjoy this role if you are…
Personally motivated by building programs and experiences that genuinely support people — you see great benefits administration as an act of care, not just compliance
Autonomous, urgent, and creative - you genuinely love solving problems and creating lasting solutions
Highly organized and detail-oriented — you catch data integrity issues before they become problems, and you track every open thread to closure
Passionate about the employee experience and committed to making every benefits interaction feel personal and high-touch, not transactional
The kind of person who builds strong, trust-based partnerships across Payroll, Finance, and external vendors — because you know that great benefits outcomes depend on great relationships
Serious about your work, but not about yourself. You take pride in your work while remaining humble, adaptable, and approachable.
Your day to day is…
Administering Zocdoc's employee benefit programs — medical, dental, vision, life, disability, wellness, FSAs, HSAs, COBRA, retirement, commuter, and voluntary benefits
Serving as the primary point of contact for employees navigating benefits questions, qualifying life events, new hire enrollments, terminations, and dependent verification — delivering a high-touch experience at every step
Administering leave of absence programs in partnership with Zocdoc's leave administrator, including FMLA, ADA, state leave programs, paid family leave, workers' compensation, and short-term disability
Performing regular audits of benefit eligibility, payroll deductions, vendor files, invoices, and system integrations to maintain data integrity and financial accuracy
Reconciling monthly benefit invoices and partnering with Payroll and Finance to resolve discrepancies quickly and accurately
Supporting annual Open Enrollment from system configuration testing through employee education sessions and post-enrollment auditing
Maintaining compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, Section 125, Medicare reporting, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations — and supporting Form 5500 filings, nondiscrimination testing, and other annual activities
Developing and maintaining employee-facing documentation, benefit guides, and knowledge articles that make our programs easy to understand and navigate
Identifying opportunities to automate processes, leverage AI tools, improve reporting, and continuously elevate the overall employee experience
You'll be successful in this role if you have…
An unrelenting desire to build more equitable, inclusive, and diverse workplaces — you view this role as an opportunity to create positive change
Meaningful (4–6 years) of progressive benefits administration experience, ideally gained in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
The ability to integrate generative AI tools into daily workflows to automate tasks, foster innovation, and maximize productivity
Experience administering Leave of Absence programs, including FMLA, ADA, state leave programs, and disability benefits
A strong working knowledge of federal and state benefits regulations — COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ERISA, ACA — and the confidence to interpret and apply them accurately
A compassionate but consultative approach with employees and vendors, with the communication skills to make complex benefits topics feel accessible
Superb attention to detail and organizational skills — you believe accurate data is the foundation of a trustworthy benefits program
A bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
Advanced benefits and/or HR certifications (CEBS, SHRM-CP, PHR) are a plus
