IT Support Engineer
About the Role
Muon seeks an IT Support Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys helping people, and takes pride in keeping systems running smoothly. This role is the front line of internal IT support — you'll be the person our team turns to when they need help getting set up, staying connected, and staying productive.
This position is fully on-site at our San Jose office, five days per week.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for daily help desk requests, triaging and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues for all employees
Set up, configure, and deploy new user workstations (macOS, Windows, Linux), including standard software, security tooling, and peripheral equipment
Administer Okta for user provisioning, deprovisioning, MFA enrollment, application assignments, and group management
Manage Google Workspace accounts, groups, shared drives, and organizational unit policies
Troubleshoot network connectivity issues including Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, and DHCP across office and remote environments
Maintain IT asset inventory, track hardware lifecycle, and coordinate equipment procurement and disposal
Create and maintain internal IT documentation including onboarding guides, troubleshooting runbooks, and knowledge base articles
Support conference room A/V equipment and video conferencing systems
Collaborate with the Security Engineering team on endpoint security, patch management, and access control policies
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in an IT support, help desk, or systems administration role
Hands-on experience with Okta or a similar identity provider (user lifecycle, SSO, MFA)
Working knowledge of Google Workspace administration (user management, groups, security settings)
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN)
Experience setting up and supporting macOS and Windows endpoints in a corporate environment
Strong troubleshooting methodology and ability to prioritize competing requests
Excellent communication skills — able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users
Able to work with minimal supervision, be proactive and reliable
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with MDM solutions (WorkSpaceOne, Jamf, Kandji, or Intune)
Familiarity with scripting or automation (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) for IT workflows
Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS) or infrastructure-as-code tools
Salary
The salary range for this role is $106,000 - $120,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
