This is an independent contractor engagement in Argentina. Deel will serve as Contractor of Record and will contract with and pay the independent contractor. The independent contractor will provide services to Greenhouse on a non-exclusive basis, may provide services to other clients, and will be responsible for determining the manner and means of performing the services, subject to the applicable statement of work and agreed deliverables. This engagement is not an employment relationship with Greenhouse. No employment relationship, social benefits, or labor entitlements under Argentine Law 20,744 are created by this engagement.
Through this arrangement, Deel is hiring an independent contractor to provide services to the Enterprise Apps (EA) team at Greenhouse.
EA's charter is to take toil off every other team in the company so they can focus on the work only they can do. In 2026, we're using that charter to build something more ambitious: an AI-native operating layer for Greenhouse, with internal tooling, agents, skills, and automations that any team can build on, deploy to, and run against Greenhouse's data and tools. We're early enough in the work that the team will help shape what the platform actually becomes.
This is a software engineering role focused on building developer-facing products, APIs, frameworks, and abstractions. The right person will be a strong Python or TypeScript engineer who also understands how production systems are deployed, secured, and operated in the cloud.
This role will support the development and maintenance of the Company’s web-based applications as part of an approximately 12-month engagement. In this role, you will focus on high-quality feature execution and technical reliability across the application stack for the Company
This is a collaborative, execution-focused, non-exclusive engagement. Services will include design, development, and delivery of platform infrastructure as scoped with the EA team.
Contract & location details
Contract duration: Approximately 12 months
Engagement type: A non-exclusive contract role engaged through a Contractor of Record (COR) via Deel in Argentina
Location: Argentina (remote)
Working model: Collaboration with a distributed, US & Canada-based team with reasonable availability for coordination with Greenhouse stakeholders
Who will love this job
A platform builder – you excel at creating developer-facing tools, APIs, frameworks, and systems that help other engineers move faster and build with confidence.
A force multiplier – you think beyond one-off fixes and look for architectural investments that unlock impact across multiple workflows.
A reliability-minded engineer – you care about building secure, observable, and dependable systems, from deployment automation and production telemetry to thoughtful failure handling.
An AI systems pragmatist – you’re familiar with the potential of agents and automations, but equally focused on the evaluation and telemetry frameworks needed to use them responsibly in workflows.
A close partner – you enjoy collaborating directly with engineers to understand engineering workflows, shaping platform interfaces around real-world application needs.
What you’ll do
Design and build the self-service platform that allows teams across Greenhouse to create, deploy, and operate agents, automations, and internal applications.
Build developer-facing APIs, SDKs, frameworks, and tools that make complex infrastructure capabilities easy for application engineers to use.
Create reusable software abstractions for provisioning runtime environments, deployments, observability, secrets, access controls, and other platform capabilities.
Develop internal services and APIs that codify Greenhouse’s AWS environment, including networking, IAM, secrets management, and deployment workflows.
Build evaluation, telemetry, and observability capabilities for AI-powered and non-deterministic production systems.
Partner with application engineers to understand their workflows, identify friction, and improve the platform based on developer feedback and usage.
Make architectural decisions that balance developer experience, reliability, security, scalability, and operational simplicity.
At Greenhouse's request, provide technical escalation availability during agreed windows for core platform infrastructure support.
You should have
5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production software.
Strong programming experience in Python or TypeScript. Software development should be a primary part of your recent work, not an occasional component of an infrastructure or operations role.
Experience building software used by other engineers, such as an internal platform, SDK, framework, developer tool, API, command-line tool, or shared service.
Strong software engineering fundamentals, including API design, testing, maintainability, system design, and building clear developer-facing abstractions.
Experience treating infrastructure capabilities as a product rather than a collection of tickets, scripts, or manually managed environments.
Hands-on experience operating production services in AWS or GCP, including areas such as compute, networking, IAM, secrets, deployment automation, and infrastructure as code.
Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tooling, while remaining primarily a software engineer rather than a Terraform- or operations-focused specialist.
A developer-experience mindset, including gathering feedback, understanding engineering workflows, and iterating based on adoption and usage.
Strong production security fundamentals, including secrets management, OAuth/OIDC, least-privilege access, and dependency hygiene.
Familiarity with the evaluation, observability, or telemetry challenges associated with LLMs, agents, or other non-deterministic systems.
