About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Full Stack Java Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable, cloud-native applications across multiple technology stacks. The successful candidate will have strong experience developing modern web applications and distributed services using TypeScript, Node.js, Java/Kotlin, and Spring Boot, while working within an agile product delivery environment.
This role requires hands-on development expertise, strong software engineering practices, and the ability to collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, DevOps Engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack applications and microservices.
Build responsive web applications and APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.
Develop robust backend services using Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot.
Integrate applications with cloud-native storage and services, including Amazon S3.
Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices.
Participate in solution design, code reviews, technical workshops, and architectural discussions.
Optimize application performance, scalability, security, and reliability.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments.
Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of production issues.
Contribute to technical standards, development frameworks, and reusable components.
Must-Have Qualifications
A successful candidate will typically have 5+ years of software engineering experience, with proven expertise in building scalable, cloud-native applications
Backend Development
Strong commercial experience with:
Java and/or Kotlin
Spring Boot
Building REST APIs and microservices architectures
Dependency injection and enterprise application design patterns
Full Stack Development
Extensive experience with:
TypeScript
Node.js
Modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
API integration and full-stack application development
Database Technologies
Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as:
PostgreSQL
MySQL
MongoDB
DynamoDB
Engineering Practices
Strong understanding of:
Agile delivery methodologies
CI/CD pipelines
Automated testing
Git version control
Secure coding practices
Performance tuning and monitoring
Nice-to-Have
Experience in the UK financial sector or financial sector in general. Knowing their strict compliance, risk, and security rules gives you a major edge.
