About us:

Amach is an industry-leading technology driven company with headquarters located in Dublin and remote teams in UK and Europe.

Our blended teams of local and nearshore talent are optimised to deliver high quality and collaborative solutions.

Founded in 2013, Amach was created to solve a specific problem in aviation: too much complexity, too little usable intelligence. We help airlines modernise their operating model using cloud, data and Al-delivered by teams with deep aviation domain expertise.

Our goal is to maximize airlines' operational efficiency by optimizing resource use, reduce costs and increase customer experience and satisfaction.

We’re hiring a Principal Android Engineer to lead the architecture and development of a large-scale, customer-facing mobile app used by a broad audience. This is a high-impact technical leadership role where you’ll shape mobile strategy, mentor engineers, and drive modern Android best practices across multiple teams.

You’ll work in cross-functional agile squads alongside Product, iOS, QA, and Engineering leaders to deliver high-quality, scalable mobile experiences. The role combines hands-on development with forward planning, mentoring, stakeholder management, and project management responsibilities.

This is a key role in an ongoing digital transformation, with the opportunity to modernize the codebase and build new features from the ground up and drive end-to-end solution delivery.

Required Experience:

10+ years of Android development experience, with 3+ years in a senior technical leadership role

Strong expertise in Kotlin, Android SDK, and Jetpack Compose

Proven track record architecting, launching, and scaling production apps on Google Play

Strong expertise in mobile architecture, design patterns, and scalable systems

Experience with mobile testing, CI/CD, and release automation

Solid understanding of APIs, networking, security, and third-party integrations

Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly in simple, non-technical language

Excellent communicator who can influence technical decisions across teams and manage stakeholder relationships effectively

Strong problem-solver who connects technical choices to business outcome

Experience mentoring engineers, forward planning and managing projects or technical workstreams

A passionate and committed approach, with a strong focus on collaboration, team fit, and company culture

Key responsibilities & Duties Include:

Own and evolve the Android technical vision and architecture

Remain hands-on with Kotlin development while providing technical leadership to the wider team

Lead cross-team design decisions and drive scalable, maintainable solutions

Drive end-to-end delivery, from technical planning and solution design through to implementation and release

Mentor engineers, lead by example and raise the bar for Android engineering standards

Champion modern Android development (Jetpack Compose, modularization, clean architecture)

Work effectively with onshore and offshore engineers, supporting collaboration and consistent delivery across the team

Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to balance speed, quality, and business impact

Communicate complex technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Improve app performance, reliability, observability, and release processes

Lead resolution of complex production issues and reduce technical debt

Support forward planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement across key mobile initiatives

What’s in it for you:

An opportunity to join a fast-growing company

Options for career advancement

Learning and development opportunities

Flexible working environment

Competitive salaries based on experience
