Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Instructional Technologist to support the Naval Postgraduate School’s Extended Campus programs. This role focuses on integrating instructional technologies into graduate‑level academic courses delivered both in‑residence and through distance‑learning modalities. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience with instructional design tools, learning technologies, and faculty support in a higher‑education environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support the design, development, and delivery of instructional materials for in‑residence, hybrid, and distance‑learning courses.
Collaborate with faculty to incorporate instructional technologies that enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
Provide training, guidance, and troubleshooting for instructional technology tools and platforms.
Assist with the implementation of learning technologies aligned with adult learning principles and evidence‑based instructional practices.
Support quality assurance processes to ensure instructional materials meet academic, usability, and accessibility standards.
Maintain documentation, resources, and best‑practice guides for faculty and staff.
Required Qualifications
3 years of experience in instructional design, instructional technology, and supporting both in‑residence and distance‑learning environments.
BA/BS degree in education, instructional design, instructional technology, or a related professional discipline.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Desired Qualifications
Experience partnering with faculty to integrate instructional technologies into course design and delivery, particularly for remote or distance‑learning settings.
Understanding of how instructional technologies support adult learning theories, especially within STEM disciplines in higher education.
Experience providing training, workshops, or one‑on‑one support for instructional technology tools.
Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
Proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Additional Information
This position requires onsite work at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
U.S. Citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.
