SUMMARY: AV Field Engineers are responsible for working closely with the Engineering team to bring newly installed AV and multimedia systems to completion. Field Engineers will ensure that New Era Technology’s Standards are upheld on all AV and multimedia systems.

HIERARCHY: The AV Field Engineer reports directly to the Field Engineer Manager.

PRIMARY DUTIES: The AV Field Engineer shall be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Work with engineering team to complete drawing reviews

Oversee and support multiple projects occurring simultaneously

Review project requirements and schedule remote & onsite support time to complete projects in timely fashion

Support Project Managers and Engineers regarding project specific technical requirements

Participate in engineering discussions

QC systems installed by others (i.e. subcontractors, etc.)

Train clients on use of AV Systems

Support install team in installation of systems as needed

Crimp, solder, wire pull, label, terminate, and other technical tasks associated with AV systems

Fabricate AV systems in the field and inhouse as needed

Stage AV systems in-house as needed

Installing and labeling equipment into racks

Dressing cables in racks, under tables, in credenzas, in lecterns/podiums etc.

Labeling and Terminating cables both in and out of racks

Documentation of equipment (i.e. Serial Numbers, MAC addresses, IP Addresses, etc.)

Inventory control and Chain of Custody

Read and markup project documents

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Configure, Load, test and troubleshoot control systems programming

Write, load, and tweak DSP files

Write, load, and test basic configurable systems

Work closely with the programmer (whether in-house or sub-contractor)

Troubleshoot and repair newly installed and existing custom AV systems

Provide detailed daily reports of work completed and open Punch-List items

Read, understand and follow any consultant documentation

Use hand and power tools

Safe use of ladders, scaffolding and lifts

Lift heavy and bulky equipment

Understand and meet all deadlines

Resolve all customer service issues with management

Maintain a professional appearance and attitude

Work to achieve 100% customer satisfaction 100% of the time

Full compliance with company’s policies and procedures

Giving excellent customer service through a professional attitude

Other duties as deemed necessary by management

Minimum 30% overnight / travel required per year

COMPETENCY:

Strong client and service focused mindset, demonstrate excellent listening skills and the ability to understand customer issues.

Understanding of how audiovisual systems function, and how to diagnose and resolve problems within those systems

An ability to use discretion and good judgment regard to sensitive or confidential information

Proficient with computers, including audiovisual applications (AMX, Extron, Crestron, Poly, Cisco, QSC, Biamp, etc.)

Must have a clean driving record

Ability to work flexible hours and period domestic and international travel

Must have excellent organization skills

Must have proven multitasking skills and can work under extreme pressures

Must have solid soldering skills

EXPERIENCE: CTS certification and a minimum of four years of AV experience is required with proven proficient skills required for Field Engineer level from New Era Technology.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to drive a company vehicle to client sites

Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis

Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolding and lifts

Willing to work at heights

Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel objects

Regularly see details of objects that are less than a few feet away

Regularly speak clearly so listeners can understand

Regularly understand the speech of another person

Frequently work on projects that require deadlines

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT: New Era Technology office and client sites, domestic and international

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, required work hours may vary depending on business needs. Ability to work flexible hours is required.
